What Is The Best Form Of Vitamin C?

Suffering from Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome I needed a high quality Vitamin C supplement and was recommended Lypo Spheric Vitamin C due to its revolutionary encapsulated delivery system.

The delivery system of this Vitamin C maximizes absorption by the body. I needed fast results and maximum bang for my buck so making the right choice of vitamin C was important to help get my health back on track.

Vitamin C is probably one of the best known supplements. Everyone knows about Vitamin C from the story of how a lack of this important vitamin caused scurvy in sailors of bygone days.

But there are so many Vitamin C products out there now I’m sure you’ve asked yourself, which Vitamin C should I take? Which Vitamin C is best?

which vitamin c should i take question

The choice of Vitamin C supplements is huge, with so many brands available on the market, it can be mind boggling. But quality and product prices vary greatly,  making choosing the right one tricky.

How can you be sure you’re not just wasting money buying an inferior product which your body is unable to use efficiently?

Hopefully this review will answer some of those questions and help you make an informed decision when buying this important supplement.

Particularly if you are currently dealing with an illness, you want to be sure you are helping your body by supplying it with the quality supplements it needs to recover and rebuild.

What Are Vitamin C Benefits?

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that’s found in lots of different fruits and vegetables and is a crucial component of a healthy diet.

Foods containing naturally high levels of vitamin C include bell peppers, guavas, kiwifruit, citrus fruit, strawberries, papayas, broccoli, tomatoes, snow peas and kale.

It is a powerful antioxidant that acts to neutralize free radicals in your body, reducing the risks of inflammation and disease caused by stress and damage to your cells.

Vitamin C also boosts the immune system, improves heart health, and synthesizes collagen for healthy joints and skin.

In chronic fatigue syndrome it can also help with the adrenal component of the illness, as the adrenals need a high dose of this powerful vitamin when under stress.

A powerful antioxidant, vitamin C is directly involved in your adrenals production of cortisol.

If you are suffering from adrenal fatigue it is one of the most important supplements and an essential building block for the recovery of your adrenal glands.

Vitamin C requirements during adrenal fatigue generally fall between 2,000-4,000mg per day. These levels are  almost  impossible to reach from fruit and vegetables only.

Even eating a ton of oranges, guavas and kiwis each day, you would still likely only reach levels of about 500mg each day. So if you are dealing with an illness, supplementation is a must to get the levels of vitamin C you need.

According to Dr James Wilson, in his book “Adrenal Fatigue – The 21st Century Stress Syndrome”, he reports that some patients require up to 20,000mg per day to support and heal their adrenals.

  • Vitamin C is stored  in the highest concentration within the adrenal glands.
  • It is used by the adrenals to produce all of the adrenal hormones, including cortisol.
  • Vitamin C stores are quickly used up when you are under stress during the production of cortisol and related stress-response hormones.
  • When Vitamin C is in short supply, your adrenal glands become even more stressed. In this state they release even more cortisol. This not only increases your feelings of anxiety, but with higher cortisol being pumped out it affects blood sugar and blood pressure too.

Why I take Lypo Spheric Vitamin C

which vitamin c should I take

  • Liposomes are tiny fat soluble vehicles for carrying nutrients to the body’s cells.

  • Lypo Spheric Vitamin C utilizes a revolutionary method of enhanced Vitamin C delivery. Incorporating liposomes made from phospholipids to maximize absorption into the bloodstream thus ensuring the product is transferred easily into the cells of the body.

  • Phospholipids are primary building blocks of the cellular membrane, which is the thin protective wall around each cell. By packaging liposomal Vitamin C like a bodily cell, Lypo Spheric Vitamin C passes through the digestive barriers and delivers the nutrient directly to the bloodstream. This results in a much higher absorption rate of Vitamin C with over 90% of cells being bathed in this important nutrient.

A study showed that liposomal vitamin C produces higher circulating concentrations in the body than standard unencapsulated oral vitamin C.

Lypo Spheric Vitamin C is a gel, a little like honey in texture and comes pre-packaged in individual sachets. It’s recommended to mix the contents of a sachet in water and drink it. Each sachet contains 1000mg of Vitamin C.

I find this much easier than taking several capsules. Usually, I squirt the gel directly from the sachet into my mouth then wash it down with some water.

The Pros Of Taking Lypo Spheric Vitamin C?

  • The liposomal encapsulation technology ensures the product is processed and absorbed easily by your body.
  • It offers maximum bang for your buck.
  • High quality product.
  • Easy to carry individual sachets when traveling.
  • Pleasant slightly citrus flavor..

The Cons Of Taking Lypo Spheric Vitamin C?

  • The price is high, however you are getting a superior supplement.
  • The gel consistency is a little difficult to mix with water.

  1. Hello,

I enjoyed the reading. I was looking for something to help me to improve my fatigue problem and I don’t like capsules. They are very hard for me to swallow.

With Lypo Spheric Vitamin C being soft and gel-like, I won’t have any problems. One thing that you mentioned, it is kind of difficult when mixing.

Does it have a taste after the mixture of water and gel?

    • Hi Cooki

Thanks for your comment. It sounds like Lypo Spheric Vitamin C could be great for you if you dislike capsules. It has a pleasant sort of citrus taste. I don’t think you’ll have any problem with the flavour.

  2. I know vitamin c does quite a bit to help boost your immune system. Anytime one of my boys is sick, I try to help them get extra vitamin c
I didn’t know that it helps people who are constantly tired though. What does it have in it that helps prevent fatigue?

Also how often is it recommended that you take this supplement?

Thanks for your comments and yes at the first sign of a sniffle or sneeze I dose up on Vitamin C which seems to stop a cold developing if taken quickly enough at onset.

Vitamin C can help with fatigue if there is an adrenal component to the fatigue as the adrenals need high doses when under stress. Vitamin C should be taken as one of the supplements when treating fatigue issues.

It is possible to take high dosages of Vitamin C, however I would start slowly taking one sachet once a day to see how your body tolerates it.

  3. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS )is a real thing, not some made up diagnosis.  It is a recognized diagnosis by medical coders everywhere.

Treatment of CFS is always difficult for your doctor because there is no magic pill (like an antibiotic) that will take your problem away.  But it seems like Vitamin C helps many people feel better.

Liposomal delivery systems are also a real thing – it seems like they help with absorption in the body.

You could buy cheap vitamin C over the counter at your local Walmart and hope for the best.  Or you could try this preparation that is specialty made fo helping absorption into the body.

It won’t work unless you can get it where it needs to be!

  4. Vitamin C has long been a wonder vitamin.  I dont think there is any reason to not take it.  In saying that it is because of this that there are so many inferior products on the market.  It is great to read a review of an inferior product.  I dont mind paying a little more if I am getting better quality.  Thank you for this review.

  5. Thanks for the heads up on Lypo Spheric Vitamin C. I was aware of the danger of not having enough vitamin C, but I wasn’t aware of the benefits you had listed: free-radical / inflammation / cell-damage reduction, immune system / heart-health improvement. I’m a chronic migraine sufferer, mainly because I’m highly susceptible to inflammation caused by changes in the weather; I’ll have to get some Vit C supplements to help me in the fight against inflammation. I like what you said about LS Vit C, that it has a revolutionary delivery method that enhances absorption. Sounds just like something I could really use. Thanks for the post; I look forward to seeing your next. post.

  6. Hi Ann! Vitamin C is indeed very important for the overall well being of the person! Coming from the sport area, I know how important vitamins are. Vitamin C as well. As you mentioned in your blog post, it helps to recover from many things. Fatigue and lack of the immunity as well.Important is to take care about the dose, although Vitamin C if overdosed can be easily released out of the organism.Anyway, the health is always the priority! With this in mind and knowing that the modern way of living is making many people more sick as they should be, your tips will be a great help for anyone who would like to know more about Vitamin C and the consuming of it. I wish you as much health as you can get!Best regards!

  7. Great article, there’s so much more to Vitamin C than I realized! I didn’t know it could help with chronic fatigue, or to do with the production of cortisol. I absolutely agree that the choices for supplements has become mind boggling. I was told to take more Vitamin C and D, and this was my dilemma! It’s hard to know what to choose and which dosage is truly beneficial. I like that this product has shown to produce higher concentrations in the body. It’s definitely worth considering, thanks for your review, very helpful.

    • Hi there, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Vitamin C is used in high quantities by the adrenals when they are under stress, and I found it a really useful supplement when I was suffering from it. This particular supplement is great quality and was recommended to me by my naturopath.

  8. To me, price is rather irrelevant as long as I know I’m receiving a high-quality product. The fact it’s easily absorbed shows such quality as well. So many products out there these days might be made with second-tier ingredients which the body won’t absorb as readily. These products are often cheaper and we pay for what we get.

    • Thanks for leaving a comment. I agree with you on the price aspect. As with many things in life, you get what you pay for. You could definitely pay less for Vitamic C supplements, but are they in a form your body can readily use? If not, you’re throwing money away.

  9. Seems like an alright supplement. Personally, I like getting all my vitamins naturally from foods, sun and what not, but I realize that it’s not possible for everyone to do this. I’ve never heard of this supplement, but it seems like a quality product and worth trying, especially for someone who barely gets any vitamin C.

    • Hi and thanks for commenting. I agree, you should definitely try to get your nutrients from a good natural diet. However, sometimes for many reasons that is not always possible. Particularly if you have an illness like adrenal fatigue when your adrenal glands need Vitamin C in higher quantities than your diet can supply a supplement is needed in order to heal.

  10. I love Lyposomal Vitamin C. I’ve not tried this brand but it is more affordable than the brand I currently use, so I think I will give it a go. I actually haven’t used it for a while, but I have adrenal fatigue and didn’t realise the link between the adrenal hormones and vitamin c, thank you so much for enlightening me!

    • Thanks for stopping by, yes Vitamin C is crucial if you have adrenal fatigue as your glands use it in such high quantities when under stress. Glad you found the article helpful.

  11. I’m always willing to pay a higher price for a higher quality supplement. I’ve always believed in the ‘you get what you pay for’ mentality and by spending a few extra dollars in terms of quality, I have peace of mind knowing I’m getting something superior. This is shown in the fast-absorbing nature of the product, which back when I took supplements regularly, I conducted research to ensure any product I invested in contained faster absorption than its competitors.

    • Hi thanks for your comment and I couldn’t agree more. There’s little point spending money on poor quality supplements that don’t do what they need to do.

  12. Thanks for this post. Vitamin C is a supplement that I take very often. I do take part in sports alot and end up getting stressed out. Though the performance varies too often due to the fact that I buy varieties due to the multiple availability of different products and whenever I’m unable to pick, I’ll just go for any randomly. But going by the provisions of the detailed highlights on this post, I realise the need for me to major my focus on the Lypo spheric vitamin C. I personally got excited because of the gel like and soft manner that it is. I would get it this evening.

    Thanks for this insightful post

  13. Hi Ann,

You have written a very beautiful article about Vitamin C. I am a pharmacist and I probably could not do a better job.It is interesting that manufacturers have found ways to make Vitamin C in different shapes, sizes and formulations.

Lypo Spheric Vitamin C may be a good option for a person who has a real Vitamin C deficiency considering all the pros you have provided.

    Thanks for the information.

  14. Thank you for all the information! There is definitely an abundance of vitamin C supplements to choose from on the market. What I like about this one is their attempt to make vitamin C more readily assimilated into the body since it does us no good if the body is unable to absorb and process it. I know I could definitely use more vitamin C – I’m going to give this one a try and see how it works for me. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention!

  15. Thank you for the information you shared here. To be honest I’ve always known that our body needs VitaminC as well, and I’ve usually taken it but so far – only in the form of tablets or capsules. This new method really seems to be effective as – if I understand correctly: after taking Lypo Spheric Vitamin C, liposomes filled with vitamin C are transported directly into our bloodstream and into our cells.

  17. Great title question! It made me think of oranges and orange juice and think, I sure used to eat and drink a lot more oranges as a child. Supplements are great as an adult as they are so much faster than peeling an orange, plus there’s a lot less stickiness. Don’t get me wrong I like an orange from time to time but supplements are really the way to go. This is a very thorough review and that’s something I appreciate. I wasn’t aware that vitamin c has so much connection with the adrenal glands, interesting. Lypo-Speric sounds awesome and I will definitely be checking out the product through your link here. Thank you!

    • Unfortunately there is not as much vitamin c in oranges as people think. Yes when under stress your adrenals need high levels of vitamin c.

I have questioned vitamins and supplements for some time now.  I’ve heard all kinds of opinions on the best forms for absorption from, liquids to powders to compressed pills, ingesting naturally (by eating fruits and vegetables) and so on.

Vitamin C is vital to one’s health.  I’m actually surprised to find out how much it actually contributes.

I’m unsure of the gel form…  How does it taste?

Thank you again.  I’m going to look further into this one, even though the gel form is a bit odd to me,

    • Hi and thanks for stopping by. It is definitely important to take any supplements in a form which your body can best use. The taste of this gel is OK, a little citrusy/sour. You can mix it into water before taking, but I find it doesn’t dissolve well. I usually just squirt the gel from the sachet straight into my mouth and swallow it, quick and easy.

I have been taking Vitamin C capsules and really don’t like swallowing them. The Lypo Spheric Vitamin C sounds like it works in the body better than capsules and would be easier to take. Is this something that I can take on a daily basis?

So I am beginning this journey. I have bookmarked your site to review later.
